Started my own business and am genuinely curious where people source startup capital without using a bank. I need a small amount to cover expenses and need it sooner rather than later
After 10 years in professional sales and finding myself in the top 10%-20% wherever I went, I started my own business after being royally screwed over by my previous company. I vowed to never work for another person ever again and to finally take the leap. Multiple times the last two or so years prospects/clients would ask if I'm the business owner during our conversations and it really made the gears start turning. I eventually settled on a consulting firm because I can either teach the sales skills I have, or use those skills to do sales for people, or teach them how I've learned to use Reddit for genuine organic marketing. My first client is my buddies CBD shop and he's seen a decent uptick in new business, repeat business, and the dollar amount these Reddit customers spend. When he told me that my comments on a sub drove him a ton of new biz, I realized I have something here. Here are some highlights from my professional career:
-40,000+ dials and 100% quota attainment in 2024, selling websites to real estate professionals.
-July 31st 2024, the last day of the month, I one call closed two separate deals from two separate people for a total of three units, which was precisely the number needed to maintain 100% quota attainment for the year. Dial 8,500 was both the final call of the month and the call that preserved my record.
-Performed in-person visits for 2 months and collected roughly 650 leads, most of which were warm, for a business that caters meals to business professionals.
-One of only three people to bring in more revenue than their compensation plan required out of 80 employees helping elementary, middle, high school, and college athletic programs and their teams sell fan merchandise and fundraise.
-Successfully closed over $2,000,000 as a loan officer specializing in fix-and-flip properties.
-Sold nearly $1,000,000 worth of pro audio equipment in a single year.
So far, I've sent out several contracts and maybe have another source for startup cash but it's pretty iffy (fingers crossed something goes my way). I want to connect with genuine investors who invest in small startups but I seriously have no idea where to even look. I’m a one-man operation and don’t need an insane amount, just enough for a couple months of expenses to keep me afloat. I’ve only had cold calling only jobs where I run the full sales cycle so I know I can do it, I just need a little time to build up a base of clients. Any and all feedback is greatly appreciated because I really need to source some startup capital pretty soon. Thank you!
