Tips for easing out of a lucid dream?
Hi there! First off I apologize if the title is a bit counter-intuitive. I know that many here are actively trying to lucid dream and explore their dreamscapes.
I've been lucid dreaming since I was a child and before I knew what they were/ that not everyone else had them. I've always taken a more passive approach-- preferring to watch the dream play out rather than intervening. Also maybe related but I can't very well visualize things in my mind so seeing whatever my subconscious conjures up is interesting and I don't feel compelled to take control most of the time.
However, I've had an uptick in vivid nightmares recently and I'm looking for advice from people with similar experiences (and I'm not sure what's at the root cause IRL yet as I'm not particularly stressed/ haven't changed any of my habits.) My most recent attempt at altering a dream caused an equally unsettling false awakening loop which was also lucid. I've also been encountering several dreams in which I wake myself up from only to fall back asleep and have it continue.
Does anyone have any in-dream tips for calming the mind and still remaining asleep? I find myself just wanting to relax and "shut my brain off" for the night these days.
