How can I keep my kitty entertained at night and when I’m not home
Hey guys! I have a cat we adopted named Caribou, she has truly been the highlight of my world since we took her in, and I’ve honestly never loved an animal more. We got her when she was about 8 months old(she came in as a stray so might not be exact) and we’ve had her since February!
Since February I can count on one hand how many nights I’ve gone without getting woken up more than once, which honestly doesn’t bug me at all. It’s a small price to pay for all that she’s done for me, she’s been my rock through my entire pregnancy. I’ve been high risk my entire pregnancy so far and I really don’t know what I would be doing without her, she makes my days so much brighter. I’ve always loved my pets, but I’ve never had such a deep appreciation for one like her.
The baby is due in early December, and that date is only getting closer. I don’t mind getting woken up by her meowing, but I’m worried she’ll be waking the baby up too. She is very energetic, and very needy. She has high anxiety and pretty much constantly needs attention from somebody. We can’t close the door to our room because she’ll just cry and scratch at the door, and I can’t listen to her crying without feeling immediate guilt so I always give in.
Is there any way I can combat this? Maybe something that will help keep her busy enough at night so I don’t worry about the baby? I’ve bought her an insane amount of toys on top of a really expensive cat tree, but she’s completely disinterested in it. She genuinely only cares about getting affection.
It’s the same issue whenever my husband leaves, she’ll sit at the door for about an hour and just cry, no amount of love or attention will move her. I used to play bird videos on YouTube and that would take her mind off of it but then she started attacking the tv, which happens.
She is already on anti-anxieties, but is there anything else I can do? I just feel so bad
