Any good tips on transitioning from accounting to a finance role?

For the past year I have been working in accounting advisory doing a mix of technical accounting advisory and outsourced accounting. Prior to this role I spent 5 years in public accounting at a big 4. I want to move into a finance role. Does anyone have experience in moving from accounting to finance and what was your trajectory? Did you take a hit in salary to do so?
