Co-teaching
I recently begun the transition from my prior school to this new one on Monday. They told me that the school I was transferring to had 24 preschool-aged children and the teacher required a co-teacher to work with, which is why I was being transferred. I prepared my google slides, learning bins, brain breaks, activities, and worksheets for the week. On Monday, I completed everything I had intended. I'm aware they're small, which is why everything was so fast-paced, and I kept each subject and activity at 10-15 minutes max. I thought I did great given their ages!
During our PD yesterday, she commented on my morning entry. She told the staff that my morning learning bins are not a good idea. She then reacted negatively to the fact that I had brought plush animals into our calming corner. She also mentioned that we had different teaching styles and that she didn't want us rotating weeks anymore (I only taught Monday because she took over Tuesday lol), and while she didn't explicitly say she didn't like my teaching "style" on Monday, it felt that way.
I called off today because I am pregnant, an intern teacher with a life outside of work, and I am way too hormonal to be in an environment that makes me uncomfortable.
I simply want to improve the coteaching experience for both myself and the students. I was thrown into the class with little idea on what to do or anticipate, and I had never had to coteach. This is also her first year of teaching, and I'm just in my third year, so I'd appreciate any advice on what to do before turning in my two weeks and finding another school. Lol.
