[504] Another Prologue

Currently in between books. I'm noodling on a bunch of different ideas and writing them out as prologue to see how people react. Let me know your thoughts. No worries on prose critiques as a result. This is likely throwaway. Mostly trying to gauge interest in the premise / promise. Same question as last: would you turn the page?
