How do you cope when your non-Nparent is also a crappy parent?

Hi guys

I'm NC with my nmother.

My dad divorced her and remarried 20 years ago. He'll be coming up for my wedding in one month's time. The last time he came up he repeatedly whinged about the holiday town I live in and talked up his city so much. It's actually meth capital and a very unsafe city, so it was pretty cringe how carried on.

My brother, his son from his 2nd marriage, has been on government benefits since he dropped out of high school and refuses to find a job. He sold drugs, doesn't regret it, and his girlfriend has never worked and never intends to.

I've never felt so out of place in my life - a mother who was nasty to me, and a father and brother who I don't see any similarities with.

Anyone else in the same situation with your non-nparent?
