Does Chat-GPT help for real?

So i have general IELTS test scheduled for t6th October. I am currently practicing for my writing and speaking test with the free version of chat gpt. I am not a new learner nor english is my second language, but it keeps me grading 6.5-7. I would like to know it at all is it a reliable source and its accuracy before proceeding further.
