My brothers current gf has an ex husband abroad that is threatening him
So my brother has been going steady with a girl of almost one year. This woman was married but seperated and is now just recently divorced from her ex husband who is a permanent resident abroad but not a citizen of that country he is still a Filipino citizen. Her and her ex were married abroad in court but failed to notify the PSA or any sort of embassy of their marriage, from what I read if you fail to do that then the Philippines will not recognize their marriage but I could have misread or missed something. Long story short. The marriage was toxic he beat her and broke her wrists and would punch her in the head and even attempted to smother her with a pillow. As you can guess they eventually separated however they didn’t divorce yet since divorce takes up to a year or two to process in their country. Anyways She met my brother during their separation and they went to have a relationship for about one year. Problem is, about he wanted to get back with her when he found out she was now dating my brother during their separation. She refused as she didn’t like the physical abuse and he started become more and more aggressive towards her. Just yesterday that he is claiming that he spoke to a lawyer and that he has the power to take away his license for work and send him to jail. In addition he says he will never allow my brother to work abroad in the country my brothers gf and him is residing at, although he’s not a citizen of that country, he is still a citizen here. He claims that my brother is a 3rd party but he came into the scene when they were both separated. She has the conversations recorded of him acknowledging they were both seperated. I wanna know now if he actually has any sort of legal leverage over my brother here or if this guy is just being delusional. I know the law can be complicated so I just wanna know.
