SO working unusually late, but not answering calls or texts. Can I (32F) trust him (33M)?
My boyfriend works the 2-10:30pm shift. He called at about 9:30pm to say they were waiting for something to be delivered before they could do their part and last night’s shift was there until 4am. He said that he would tell me when the delivery arrived. It’s 2:14am and nothing. I’ve tried video calling (yes he can do that at work) and texted several times, even about his very sick and disabled father who is having a rough night. Nothing. He has not checked his phone at all in four hours. It’s driving me crazy that he just gave me the expectation to not expect him home for six hours later than usual, and he’s not answering his phone.
He has refused location sharing, which would resolve everything, because of two reasons. 1) He doesn’t feel special because before we met I was sharing my location with a male friend (and several other friends and family, but he is upset about the guy. I unshared the second he had a problem with it, 2) He is a bit of a conspiracy theorist and doesn’t want anyone, like the government or phone company, to be able to have location data
Extra info about our relationship: For the most part, except for some controlling tendencies and terrible communication (I’ll prob do a separate post on this later), he is an excellent boyfriend. I am a stay at home girlfriend with no responsibilities other than feeding him and to be honest, I’m not even good at that because his sister usually provides food. He is picky, says that he isn’t, and will not tell me what meals he likes that I can prepare for him. I have a 17% physical disability and several mental illnesses, do not receive benefits, and am living off of savings. He has mentioned that he does not me to work because I will fuck my coworkers (I’ve had romantic relationships with coworkers in the past, but I’m not a cheater) and he wants me home so his family can watch me. Isn’t that a little overbearing when I haven’t done anything for him to not trust me? He pays for our rent, utilities, and food when we go out. Sometimes he will even eat at home on his days off in order for me to eat out since I have an eating disorder. On his working days I pay for my own food and I pay for all my bills.
I lost trust for him several months ago when some random girl called his phone and asked if they were going to meet up. Then she texted him and he immediately deleted the text. I asked him to archive the message and he refused. He gave some story about how a friend used his phone to contact some girl and it wasn’t him. He said that since I was having a manic episode at the time, he was trying to protect me from being upset. I told him I wouldn’t stay unless he shared his location. He agreed and then later gaslighted me and said he never said that he would now, but would at some future undetermined time.
I’m an idiot, aren’t I? Is there any way he is telling the truth and I can trust him? He’s not weird with his phone, I know his password. I don’t know what to do, I am in a constant fear of anger because I don’t trust him and he does nothing to try to resolve it.
We have been dating about 4/5 months and live together. We both want to be together because of how much we both want children. He has one but would like more.
