Work Order WIP - Manufacturing Netsuite

Hi everyone. What happens if we don’t close a Work Order (WIP)? Is it mandatory to close it? From what I understand, we need to close the Work Order when using WIP because all WIP accounts will be transferred to Finished Goods/COGS. Is that correct?
