Rogue or mage for trilogy run? [No DAV spoilers]

I've played Inquisition before, but I've never really done a full trilogy run of all the games before, so I want to try out Origins and 2 but I'm torn on what class to pick. In most RPGs I usually play either mage or rogue, depending on which is more fun and powerful, so what class would you guys recommend and do you have any build suggestions?
