Dental implant slight misalignment after 12 years?

Hi all,

My top, left front tooth is a dental implant, I got it when I was about 18 (I'm 31 now). I take excellent care of my teeth and every dentist I've gone to, looks at the implant and says it looks excellent.

I got married back in Feb. and because I'm a freak, I was looking through all our wedding photos and zooming in to try to find my best photos, and I noticed that my right front tooth (actual tooth) is slightly longer than my implant. And I mean like a hair longer. But now it's all I notice 😅

So I went to the dentist to ask if anything can be done and she went on this tangent how she thinks my dental implant has moved because it's been so long and referred me to a oral surgeon who specializes in implants. My dentist told me they will determine if the crown is moving or if there's something wrong with my actual implant/bone.

However, when I go back to look at older photos of myself, my two front teeth have always been slightly uneven. I just never noticed it until recently. There are zero issues with my implant, I've never had any pain or any other symptoms. Also worth noting that I'm living in a European country, my dentist speaks English very well, but maybe there was some miscommunication.

Can a dental implant start getting slightly misaligned after some time? Or does this sound like an actual issue involving my bone? Surely I'd feel if something was wrong like an implant failure?
