What to do about unemployed bf

So we have been together for 3 years and the first year he had a job but the issue started when we moved to a bigger city together to pursue our education. The first 9 months we were up here he was applying and applying for jobs but said he could never get a call back and I didn’t complain and paid for groceries and dates and gave him some money for gas and weed when he needed it. When he finally got a job it was at his grandpas work and the hours sucked but he seemed to be willing to work there until about 3 months in when he was fired. He said he had no idea why he was fired and it was unfair, I do believe him about that and just told him to start looking for other jobs and get back to focusing on school. Since then he’s been able to pay for his half of the groceries with unemployment checks and such and has been going to school 2 days a week(says he can only get into 2 classes per semester). Fast forward to this entire year of him being unemployed again still saying he is applying for jobs everyday just can’t get a call back and one of my friends at school was able to put in a good word for him and get him hired where she works. He has been working for about 4 days and already is saying he doesn’t think he can do it and hates the job. He also is always says he want to save money for a future together but has no saving because he bought 3 cars that’s don’t run and poured most of his money into them even tho they still don’t run. I feel a bit guilty posting this but I’m not sure what to do anymore. Also we are living with his grandparents so we don’t pay rent at the moment wich I am very grateful for.
