Front Suspension Groan/Squeak
2020 BMW X5 xDrive40i (AWD) with Air Suspension - 70k miles - B58 I6 Turbo
This groaning type of noise (I’m unsure how to properly describe it) has been occurring for the past few months. I’ve narrowed it down to the driver's front area of the car, I can’t hear it outside of the car and happens much louder at cold start. It continues up to ~45mph, faster speeds I can’t hear it. This car was in an accident that involved extensive suspension repair which I’ve listed below, all OEM parts were used.
One other individual I found had an extremely similar noise to what I have and their issue was fixed by replacing the air strut, unfortunately, I attempted that with no success as the replacement didn’t make the noise go away. My next step is replacing either/both the left side control arm and tension arm as some others reported that solved the noise but I took the wheel off and visually inspected as well as with a pry bar attempted to move some of the arms/links with no obvious play. The tension arm is filled with some type of hydraulic fluid which I do not think has leaked. Here’s a video of the components as they are now.
BMW themselves and multiple Firestone locations told me they could not replicate the noise, by the time I reached them the noise goes mostly away. However, it continues and since I drive it daily I'm sure I hear it more.
Would appreciate any assistance.
