Did this tire shop screw me?

I just got all 4 tires replaced on my car. Nothing was wrong with my car before then. While waiting for the replacements, one of the front desk guys comes to tell me I’m missing a tpms sensor in one of my tires, weird because it was working just fine when I came in and never had problems with it before, so I declined what I thought was a pointless repair. After I got my car back, I drive off for a while and my tire light is on and my car can’t read one of my tires. I turn around to go back to the store and ask what’s up. After confronting them about it, they said the tpms sensor was missing from the get go and that there’s nothing they can do but charge me for the repair. I raised some more hell about it and they ended up kicking me out of the store. I’m now at another store sucking it up and getting it repaired with a new tpms sensor I picked up from autozone. The guy at this new store walked around with me while he checked each tire for the sensor, and he told me all 4 sensors are there, but 2 of them are reading the same code. (Idk if this makes sense or not I know nothing about tires. This is just what he told me)
