Unsure if addicted - Potential trigger warning
As the title states, I’m not sure if I’m addicted to sex. I’ve felt for a few years now like my body wants to orgasm but my brain does not and have spent the last couple years dealing with that in whatever way I can once per day. When I try to stop, the desire becomes stronger. I’m usually fine during the day, occasionally finding myself looking at someone in a way I would rather not, but the thoughts never last. It’s just that at night when I’m alone my body gets this desire and I’ve just kinda dealt with it but I want it to stop. I don’t want it to be a nightly routine or even a routine at all. I just want to live my life and if I happen to get a partner who wants to engage in that behavior then I will do so with them, otherwise I don’t want to think about it. Am I addicted?
Also, I would consider myself asexual. I much prefer thinking about romance - things like roses and candles and holding hands. So the fact that my body wants something my brain doesn’t makes it all the more difficult to accept.
