In career, cannot leave to go back for PhD or MS... what is the opinion of receiving these degrees online? Currently have MA in Psych, should I just read textbooks to acquire knowledge?

Hi,

So I'm working in my career right now and it's difficult (if not almost impossible) for me to return back to a traditional school for a MS or PhD in I/O.

What is the opinion of acquiring a PhD online from Capella?

or an MS from a traditional state university that offers online programs... such as the one at Colorado State or Southern New Hampshire?

I currently have an MA in Psych that I received from a traditional state university/grad school experience. I was thinking about simply just acquiring as much knowledge as I could via I/O textbooks to enhance my knowledge base. I bought many recently thanks to suggestions here and elsewhere. The information is fantastic. I really love the O portion of I/O. In grad school, I specialized in Social Psych and Research Methods. The O portion of I/O feels 'homey' to me. I wanted to specialize in I/O, but the opportunity never arose.

Is it perhaps best to forego the online degrees and just absorb as much info I can via textbooks? I know there may be that school, lecture, research component missing from my further specialization.

I'm looking to stay in industry as opposed to academia.... so perhaps a Phd is not best?
