Want to switch from engineering to med and in need of advice

Findapath-College/Certs

Im not sure if this is the right after place to post this but yeah.

I spent my entire highschool years preparing to apply to medicine (my country offers 6yr med school programs) and i ended up messing up my final year of school because of some life events which made me feel depressed and i wasnt able to study; i almost failed. I applied to med school and they rejected me due to 0.2 difference between average grade they wanted (98) and grade i got (97.8, it was very high because of my good performance in previous years of hs)

so i ended up applying to biomedical engineering, and i absolutely hate it. I hate circuits, i hate having to know the in depth physics, the complicated mathematics, and i absolutely hate computer programming.

I have two options, i either stick with BME and then pursue my graduate degrees (MS, PhD, etc…) which will take a long time, plus i dont like the field. Or, i can try applying to medicine again (they only accept fall intake) next fall, and hope for the best. I’m just kinda worried because:

  1. A whole year of my life and education will go to waste, because they dont accept transfers/credit transfer.
  2. People in my life told me i will also dislike medicine because of the hefty workload. + My friends that got into medicine do not have time for anything, and spend our conversations complaining about med school.
  3. I’m scared i won’t be able to adjust to the change and possibly fail, which means i’ll be kicked out and then its back to engineering (if my parents let me lol because if i mess up once + med school is very EXPENSIVE so if i mess up i dont know how my parents will take it, since it wouldve been a major waste of money)

im just so scared and i think i need some guidance. People in my life tell me its my decision and i should be able to make it on my own but im only 17 LMAO im really scared to make the wrong decision. All my friends in med school told me smth along the lines of “Good luck finding a job in BME as a woman no one is gonna hire you”, hearing that + my strong dislike for the field made me kinda spiral and start looking into medicine again. Before that i had just kinda accepted the fact i was gonna do engineering, and then pursue a graduate degree. Then i heard that, and thought it over and if i spend my time studying calc 1&2, and circuits crying i dont know how ill take more advanced engineering courses which i have next sem literally.

Please, id appreciate some advice or guidance. Thank you.
