Need help with controls [No DAV Spoilers]

I am a left handed gamer and I walk with p, L, semicolon, colon, but you cannot rebind "open codex menu" and if I try to back out without binding it my controls get reset. I really would like to play this game, but this is kind of ridiculous imo that is the only setting I cannot rebind.
