New around here, need some advice
Hello guys! I'm new around here. Ever since BG3 launch I've been dying to play it. Unfortunately it took me this long to upgrade my computer so I can finally run the game, so that's why I'm playing it only now. I'm a complete beginner to D&D and BG (I did watch a story recap of BG 1 and 2, but still, complete beginner ), although I've been a fan of the MMO genre for a while. I'm not familiar with combat, rolls, saves, stats, spell slots and other things that an experienced D&D/BG player would know, or even the specific combat system this game uses, since I'm more familiar with action combat, but I'm also the kind of player that likes to figure things out by myself as I play, no guides or anything like it, for immersion's sake. Considering this, I would like an advice for my first character. Should I play Origin or Custom? Which class is more fitting to my playstyle? Not in terms of power or anything like it, but when it comes to figuring things out as I play and getting a general view of the combat system, which class would give me a broad, chill introduction to the game system and different combat roles? I have no special preferences for tank, healer or dps, and the only thing I really dislike is classes that are too realistic (like a standard warrior wielding a sword, no magic, unique combat style or flashy skills lol) - I figured, fantasy game, I might as well go on full fantasy, right? Anyway, I know that there are lots of posts about this, but since my question is not in terms of raw power or easy class, but what class would be the best to teach me about the game, I could ask for advice. What do you guys think?
Edit: I received good advice here to go custom, so I used a wheel to pick race and bg and got Wood Elf/Urchin. I don't really care about min maxing, but a versatile class woul be a big help (even if not particularly strong) so I can decide what combat style I like the most for my second playthrough!
