Contacts won’t unlink?

I’m having a weird issue since iOS 18 where one of my contacts that had 2 numbers listed will randomly choose which number to send to. For example, I have Person A’s personal and work number in their contact. Their personal is an Android and their work is an iPhone. When I try to text their personal number it will sometimes go through via RCS or it will just send to their work number.

I’ve completely removed their work number from their contact and created a separate contact labeled “Person A (Work)” and it still does it. Not sure if it makes a difference or not but I do have this person pinned in my messages app.

It only seems to be this one contact that gives me issues. Others that are setup similarly don’t give me the same problems.

I am using my Gmail account for contacts sync and I have all other signed in accounts disabled for contacts. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
