PMDD & Ovulation
So I recently got diagnosed with PMDD which was a huge relief because it has allowed me to start getting treatment for issues I’ve had for what’s felt like my whole life. That being said PMDD seems to affect me more when I ovulate and I was wondering if anyone has similar experiences. So I’m in a long term relationship (my boyfriend and I have been together for 3 years) and we’re doing long distance. I’ve noticed that when I ovulate I tend to hyper fixate on other men. I would never cheat on my boyfriend and have never actually acted upon these feelings but I swear every month when I ovulate I have a new guy to obsess over. It’s definitely a lot worse when we’re apart when I’m ovulating, because when we’re together I can direct some of the horny/craziness onto him. This past month when I was ovulating I could not stop thinking about this guy who I had a very short fling with like 4 years ago. He and I still have each other on Snapchat, and we have a streak but just send like one pic a day and don’t talk, but the other day he struck up a short convo about the picture I had sent as my streaks (it was a pic of the beach). The convo was short and it wasn’t flirty or anything but I talked to him when I first started ovulating and the rest of the time I was ovulating I had the most insane “crush”. We did not talk again but he was always in the back of my mind. Like I had a very vivid dream one night where he and I started dating, got married, had kids, then there was a time jump and our kids were older and we were reflecting back on life. It sounds absolutely crazy and I hate that I get this way. I love my boyfriend so much and can’t imagine my life with anyone else and it makes me feel so guilty, especially since I’ve never told him any of this. When I was getting diagnosed with PMDD I had told my doctor that my ovulation was also more intense but I didn’t tell her this much detail. Is this something you think I should bring up or is this common? I’m just trying to figure out why I’m this way and if I need different treatment than what I’m currently getting for PMDD to help.
