First Game/Introduction to series?

I was curious on what game got you into DMC. First time I saw DMC was DMC5 video with Dante gameplay, but the first DMC game I actually played was Peak of Combat (Since i saw early footage, and a friend of mine said he had early builds and said it was pretty good, I was hooked), and thought POC was relatively okay, until I bought the HD collection on Switch and played 1-3, and then completely forgot about POC and stuck with them. I was curious what was everyone's intro to the series and their first game.
