Interested in a Vipassana retreat

I am interested in a Vipassana retreat-- I know people who have done it and described their time as life-changing. I have a very casual meditation practice now, but I feel like an intensive like that would be helpful for my growth in that area. However, there doesn't appear to be a center near me (according to dhamma.org; I live in Virginia). Is a Vipassana center where I need to go for that? How do I even look into this?
