Is it a win for the cross to be often worn outside the scope of Christianity
In today's fashion culture, cross necklaces are worn by Christian and non-Christians alike. Is it a win for the cross to be often worn outside the scope of Christianity? As Orthodox Christians we understand that the cross in itself has power and it burns the demons in its presence. I also acknowledge that some non-christians use it just for the sake of fashion, and in that regard strikes me as trivializing the cross.
My questions are is it a good thing that the cross is worn more among non-christians as the cross is inherently a holy symbol that burns demons, or is it bad because it has been trivialized and since they arent Christian the cross isn't protecting them in any real way?
I ask this because I know personally non-Christians who wear crosses for fashion purposes and I also may potentially sell jewelery with crosses on them to non-Christians.
