How do I make friends as a sober adult?
For some back story, I used to be a troubled kid and I had a large friend group of the same people in which we would all get in trouble together and get messed up and go out. It's all I knew growing up and those were the people I grew up with. Now in my 20s, I had chosen to cut that group off and get sober and go to school and start a career in the hair industry because I wanted more for myself. But now that I had cut off all the friends I made growing up, I have no one but my boyfriend. He has friends that he hangs out with and I feel like I rely too much on him for attention. I crave to have female friends. I have no one. I sit at home when he's busy. I'm an adult and I have no interest in going out to bars or clubs to keep my sobriety going. How do I make friends as an adult without having to drink? I don't know where to meet people or how. I did make one friend through my job and we have some things in common, but the only time we've talked was over the internet or during her appointment. I would love to ask her to hang out but I don't know what to ask her to do. I see her repost videos of how she feels lonely and doesn't have friends too, and she also has a boyfriend. But I need help or some confidence to to do so. When making a new friend, what do you ask them to do?
