So what happens if the new media deal falls through?
Not to dogpile on the viewership thing but curiosity is getting the best of me. I'm certain all the new TV contracts etc are contingent around some minimal level of viewership through the official channels. We know there's still demand outside of said channels, reaching up to the highest levels. What's the contingency plan? Would players/owners not get paid? Contract renegotiated?
I'm also wondering if it will ever be possible for big sports to broadcast on Youtube. YT def has the infrastructure and reach to support something like the NBA and I'd wager they'd actually grow the audience. I just have a nagging feeling this new deal is very old school and will backfire
