Lines of OCD: A Global Art Collaboration to Make the Invisible Visible

Good News / Happy

Hi everyone!

(Note: This post was originally posted the r/OCD Reddit, yet I'd like to invite the people that struggle with OCD, that are in this group, as well.)

I'm a Dutch art student with OCD, and I'm working on a part of my graduation project that aims to make the invisible struggles of OCD visible in a deeply personal way. I’d love for you, people all around the world, to help me show what OCD feels like, using a simple line on a blank page.

Here's how you can participate:

  1. Grab a small white piece of paper (preferably about A4 size) and a (black) marker.
  2. Draw an abstract line that expresses what OCD feels like for you. There’s no right or wrong way – let it come naturally.
  3. Take a photo of your drawing.
  4. If you feel comfortable, sign your initials in the bottom right corner.
  5. Send me the photo in a private message (since sending an image is not allowed here).

I’ll be collecting your line-art, removing the backgrounds digitally, and arranging them into an ever expanding grid to create a collaborative artwork. The goal is to visually express our personal, often hidden experiences with OCD.

Thank you so much for considering participating and the effort! Let’s turn our experiences into something visible and impactful. I will be posting the result in early spring, as I try to collect as many line-art as I can.
Primarily this project is aimed to be digital, but in case it will end up being a physical experience in any way, of course I will share these results with you too :). Feel free to ask any questions down below or privately. Thanks again everybody that feels resonance to join!
