Interested in becoming a temporary resident of Mexico

Discussion

Hi! I am highly considering becoming a temporary citizen of Mexico. I’ve thought about Canada, but it is too cold and not as affordable. I’ve read that as long as you meet certain income requirements you can live in Mexico for 6mos-4 years. I work in healthcare and plan to fly back to CA once a month to work per diem shifts. I don’t plan on working a job in Mexico but am interested in doing voluntary mission work. I plan to rent a furnished apt for a while until I know if I want to stay more permanently. I am most interested in Mexico City as I love visiting and think the transition would be easier as it’s a pretty international major city.

I am posting to see if anyone else has this type of residency in Mexico and if so how the process was. Also wondering if I should pay to keep healthcare in U.S. or maybe look into Mexican healthcare. Also are there other areas in Mexico that would be nice places to live? I’m a single 32 yo female so safety is a priority. TIA
