U.K./N.I. patient questions

Hi, sorry if this has been asked before in various guises. I could not live without sumatriptan but as my migraines are continuing to increase in frequency (but not severity, thankfully), the time has come to try a preventative, as I take sumatriptan at least 4 times a week. My GP prescribed me Propranolol but I ended up not ever taking it as I was worried about the tiredness people report - I already have chronic fatigue syndrome and endometriosis and spend most of my time in bed when I'm not at work, I wouldn't be able to cope with any worse fatigue. I was scared to take it and I explained this to her on the phone recently and she was very understanding. She referred me urgently to the hospital neurology dept for Botox into my neck, shoulders and possibly scalp instead. I wasn't aware that you could get Botox for migraines in other places than the face and I'm actually so annoyed at myself that I didn't research this properly as I could have requested it long ago. I was assessed by a dentist and unfortunately he thinks I am not a candidate for Botox into my jaw for the TMJ pain due to the way my jawbone developed since childhood, this is not related to migraines but causes the pain to be worse (the tips of the mandibles and TMJs are too close together, there is little to no cushioning, as seen on X-ray).

Does Botox in neck and shoulders help with migraines significantly? Even though they are not the "source" of the migraine?

While I am on the waiting list my dad offered to pay for me to get Aimovig privately. This is because even though I've been referred urgently, waiting lists in Northern Ireland are extremely long and it could be months before I am seen. Is it worth trying this first, or waiting for the Botox first?

Atogepant was approved for migraine treatment use in England on April 11th 2024, but I'm in Northern Ireland - we are very blessed to have free prescriptions here but I don't know how to find out if Atogepant will become approved for use/available here. Has anyone in Northern Ireland been able to get this prescribed? Also, I haven't failed 3 treatments yet - sumatriptan has always worked really well for me, and I don't want to take propranolol for the sake of it just to meet the criteria. Does prochlorperazine count as a treatment, as it didn't work for me? Does the OCP count as a treatment as I tried that too?

Lastly, has anyone else with endometriosis found injecting Aimovig into the abdomen painful / more painful than the average person? I think if I tried it I would prefer to inject into my abdomen as I bruise really easily on my legs.

Many thanks.
