How do I set up automated backups to remote server via sftp or ssh?

I have homeassistant running on proxmox. I still can't figure out how to get automated backups to work.

Is it better to do it within proxmox or using the rclone addon within homeassistant?

I tried the rclone addon and just had no luck with getting it configured.
