Car licence registration
Hey guys, in a bit of a pickle. Recently bought a car from someone in Durban. When I did get it, the licence and registration was up to date. The licence expired on the 30th of October. When I went to change the ownership and get the car on my name, it turns out that the paperwork was incorrect. Previous owners bought the car in 2003, and the cars’ paperwork shows the titleholder as Wesbank instead of the lady who drove it (don’t think they were aware of this). 3 different licensing offices told me that she needs to change the title owner to herself first, before they can change the owner to me.
However, the lady I bought it from has cancer, she’s been in and out of chemo over the last few weeks and she’s unable to go in to the licence department to change the title holder in to her name.
That’s where my problem comes because I’ve been driving with an expired car licence disk for 3 weeks now, and because the car is fairly old JMPD and TMPD stop me often (previous experience). I have no idea how else to handle this. I drove around with my cars original paperwork and roadworthy test in hopes that if I get stopped, they’ll understand my situation.
Does anyone know how to go around this?
