Bolt with Battery Replaced doesn't get extended warranty?

Hey y'all question about the extended warranty on bolts.

I see a 2017 premier for sale, $15.5k (excluding tax credit) with 41k miles. The battery was replaced in August of this year at ~40k miles.

I'm being told that it doesn't get the extended battery warranty because it was not in GM possession when the battery was replaced even though it was in possession of the dealership.

Am I misunderstanding how the battery replacement works or was I given bad information?
