Company game server.

So, my boss wants to setup a server to run Satisfactory so the whole company can play together. (There's only like 11 of us.) The problem is he's thinking it'll be a lot like Minecraft where it runs all the time and people can join and play at their leisure. Now, I've never played multiplayer Satisfactory and frankly I'm not really sure how it all works. So my question is, can the game be played like that where is always running on a server like Minecraft, or it more like everyone gets together at a specific time and play together?
