Can I remove add-ons?
Hey everyone, I recently signed a car purchase agreement for 2024 Hyundai Elantra Limite. The total amount financed is $35,606.85, which includes several add-ons (GAP insurance, extended warranty, and theft protection). However, I haven't made any payments yet or taken possession of the vehicle.
My father is listed as the cosigner but hasn't signed any of the documents yet. After reviewing everything, my father has decided that he doesn't want any add-ons, and my insurance already covers theft and GAP insurance. I want to know: Can I remove the add-ons (GAP insurance, warranty, theft protection) before my cosigner signs and adjust the loan amount accordingly? Since the cosigner hasn't signed and I haven't made any payments, is the contract fully binding yet? Can the dealer make these changes without issue? Are there any legal considerations I should be aware of when removing these add-ons, or can I simply ask the dealership to adjust the financing? I would appreciate any advice or similar experiences from people who've dealt with this!
Thanks in advance for your help!
