I'm a sex worker in the RLD. There are rules for us, too.
Hi guys, I hope you're all doing well!
I've written here before about being a sex worker and the rules that you must abide by if you plan on visiting De Wallen. Yesterday, I read a post about a guy being ripped off, and subsequently, I decided to write a post in response.
I've been working in the RLD for ten years. I've survived this long probably because I play by the rules.
There are rules for you, but there are also, more importantly, rules for us. I'm going to talk about this further.
There are many bad actors in De Wallen. Many work dishonestly and rely on tourists' ignorance. This is bad for all of us who work in the RLD. Their dishonesty takes money out of our pockets, ruins our reputation, and hinders our ability to attract clients. Many of us work honestly, care about our clients, and simply want to work.
So, here goes.
Most importantly, Always agree on a price before you enter a window.
I cannot emphasise how important this is. If a sex worker tells you it's 300, it's not. It is never 300 for a twenty-minute blowjob. It's never three hundred for anything. That is absolutely ridiculous. If that's the first price a worker gives you, walk away. You're not going to have a good time, believe me.
It’s not more than 200 per hour.
Even if you haggle, they won't budge. Just shop around. Honestly, it's for your benefit.
These people are unscrupulous - yet, they get paid handsomely for being, at best, mediocre and half-hearted. There are many of us who do a much better job for much less.
YOU DO NOT HAVE TO PAY TO ENTER.
Do not feel pressured. If you feel pressured, you'll likely not have a good time.
For example, if you pass by my window, I'm going to wave at you, knock a little, and maybe even wink. If you shake your head at me or give me any indication you're not interested, I'll wave goodbye and leave you with a smile!
Of course, we're going to do these things. A lot of our customers come from foot traffic.
That being said, some of us are aggressive. If a worker bangs loudly at their window and tries to draw as much attention to themselves as possible, I would avoid them. These women are often more likely to suddenly increase the price.
If a worker changes the price when you're inside. You are free to leave.
It happens so often that somebody walks into a room after agreeing on a price, and when they enter, the price goes up. What often happens is that you will be threatened if you try to leave. They'll tell you that you are on camera and that they'll call the police to say you've robbed them.
You are not on camera. We do not have cameras in our rooms. To record a sexual act without the consent of all parties is illegal. Cameras and recording are strictly forbidden throughout De Wallen.
Just leave. You are free to leave at any time.
You are never charged for entry.
Agree on what you want before you enter.
As a consumer, you have a responsibility to tell us what you want, and we, as providers, have the responsibility to deliver that. If you are incoherent about what you want, you are vulnerable to being ripped off, or at least believing you have been ripped off, which leaves a very bitter taste.
I can't tell you the number of times, over ten years, that I've had clients who suddenly wanted something else in the middle of the act and looked miffed when I dared ask them for more money.
A blowjob will never cost as much as intercourse. You are not being ripped off if they ask you for extra.
Before you enter, know precisely what you want. It's better to be decisive than indecisive.
If you ask for a Guinness in a bar, you likely won't get an Amstel.
If you go soft. You don't have to leave straight away. You've paid for a time slot.
Every sex worker in De Wallen deals with this. Sometimes, clients just don't rise to the occasion. Too much beer. Too much weed. That's fine. After several attempts, we often ask if you want to continue or stop.
If you want to continue, that is right; you can leave once your time is up. Don't feel pressured to leave early if you want to keep trying.
I'll be deadly honest with you. Most people don't get hard. Most people don't have wild, unhinged hedonistic experiences. It's just not reality. But you have paid for a time, and you're allowed to be there, provided you're following the rules, for however long you've paid for.
We will ask you where you're from.
A few of us have had bad experiences with people we know from our home countries trying to find us. Please don't take it personally.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The truth is, the workers who do this are pariahs amongst sex workers. They're well-known and well-judged. They're often new, they're often transient, and they often think their poo smells of roses. It doesn't.
I've been working in De Wallen for ten years. I've had my fair share of run-ins with them; believe me, I've set them straight.
My core belief is that the RLD is a world-renowned institution. As workers, we must maintain a good reputation that benefits all of us.
Most of us just want to work. We want to make money, but in a way that isn't dishonest. We want you to have a good time, and contrary to popular belief, we want to have good working relationships with you.
That's why I'm speaking out against the people on both sides of the window who genuinely believe they have every right to do whatever they want. They do not.
If you have any severe issues with any sex worker, you can report whatever has happened to the police. You can also visit the PIC near De Oude Kerk for more information and to file a complaint.
You have to have some street smarts here.
Only withdraw the cash you need. It will never cost you more than 200 for an hour, if they. Contrary to popular belief it is no longer fifty. Inflation, init.
Set a timer on your phone for however long you've paid for.
Do not react aggressively if you believe you've been conned. You can speak to the police, or if you remember the time, window, person please feel free to DM me. I can pass it on to the proper channels.
Be confident. Be certain.
Do not go into a window believing you can do what you want. You cannot. If you act like an idiot, you'll be treated like one, and that often means you'll lose hundreds and hundreds of euros, and when total a*sholes lose money, it's hard to feel sorry for them.
I don't want to hear your moral objections to my line of work because I do not care. Those of you who shout the loudest often walk by my window the quietest.
I just want you to have fun, because when you have fun, we have fun.
Anyway, I hope this has helped.
Lot's of love.
Fusun.
EDIT: you should expect to pay no more than 200 per hour.
I've been advised to make a Substack where I'll detail my experiences as a sex worker. If you'd like to read about me or my life here is the link to subscribe. Of course, there is no pressure, but I thought it might be a good way to talk in depth about my life:
