Any advice from ex maintainers

I’m a FTA working in maintenance and stationed in Barksdale. This is my first base, my Recruiter lied to me(of course) about commissioning requirements(I have a degree but not the GPA), made me create a 2nd job list because my “license was about to expire” (this job wasn’t even on the first list) and everyday I hate coming to this place. I don’t mind working outside and on my feet which is why I thought the job might actually be cool but little did I know I wouldn’t get to choose my aircraft only have 2 bases to choose from, get worked to death and get exposed to hazards 24/7 for “the mission”. It definitely has its ups and downs and this is definitely a rant but is there any advice from ex maintainers who’ve cross trained or got out? All I think about everyday is how much longer until my cross train window opens (2 years) and trying to wonder how the hell im gonna make it till then.
