What are chances of getting STDs from sex workers in Thailand?

I'm worried about getting some STD if I decide to use services of some sex workers in Thailand.

I've read that you can get STD/STI even from receiving blowjob without condom and vaginal sex in condom also poses risks.

What are the odds though? Something like 5% to catch something or even less?

I know that there are men who had sex with more than 100 sex workers in Thailand and never caught any STD but that means they're just lucky?

Some examples of STDs

Receiving unprotected oral sex carries some risk of sexually transmitted infections (STIs), though generally lower than vaginal or anal sex. The risks include:

Bacterial STIs

Gonorrhea: Can infect the throat, urethra, or genitals.

Chlamydia: Less common, but possible if the person performing oral sex has an infection.

Syphilis: Sores can transmit the infection.

Viral STIs

Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV): Can be transmitted even without visible sores. Oral herpes (HSV-1) is a common cause of genital infections via oral sex.

Human Papillomavirus (HPV): Certain strains can be passed through oral-genital contact, potentially leading to throat or genital warts.

Hepatitis B: Low risk but possible, especially if there are cuts or sores in the mouth.

Other Infections

HIV: Very low risk, but not impossible, especially if there are sores or bleeding gums involved.

Trichomoniasis: Rarely transmitted through oral sex.

STIs with Reduced Risk (but not zero)

  1. HIV: Condoms are highly effective at reducing HIV transmission, but improper use or breakage can still pose a risk.

  2. Gonorrhea and Chlamydia: Condoms provide strong protection, but exposure can occur if the condom does not fully cover the penis or if there is improper handling.

  3. Trichomoniasis: Condoms reduce the risk significantly but do not completely eliminate it.

STIs That Can Be Transmitted Despite Condom Use

  1. Human Papillomavirus (HPV): Skin-to-skin contact outside the covered area can lead to transmission. Some strains can cause genital warts or increase the risk of cancers.

  2. Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV): Herpes can be transmitted through contact with infected skin not covered by the condom.

  3. Syphilis: If a sore (chancre) is outside the condom-covered area, transmission is possible.
