My (29m) gf (28f) hates her body and thinks she is ugly. How can I talk to her to help her?

Like the title says my (29m) gf(28f) doesn’t like her body.

I work in finance and we have a few red carpet Christmas parties events to go to.

We are both not making a lot of money right now so I told her she didn’t need to buy anything. In my case I would need a tuxedo but don’t have Money for one and I will just wear a work suit.

She has been trying to find the perfect dress even if I said she didn’t need to but she wants me to be proud of her at those events and impress me.

She tried a bunch of dresses in cheaper stores with her friends but nothing fits. My gf is pretty tall 5’9” and so most brands that are of the shelf won’t fit her even when she objectively very pretty. She goes to the gym and she is kind of fit but her breast are huge so I’m guessing anything but tailor made won’t fit her as I have the same problem. I can relate because I’m 6’3 fit and carry a lot of mass from my sports background so anything from Zara, jack and jones and etc won’t fit me. I have to go to luxury store and I always buy on sale at 70% off when they get rid of stocks when they switch seasons to find things that fit my physique because I can get them adjusted and they just fit better on an athletic physique instead of ending in baggy clothes.

Anyway from trying things with her very skinny friend she is now insecure because she thinks her legs and arms look too big as well as her butt and small belly because it’s a tight dress. Also she says the ones that looks good don’t fit because her breast are too big.

Nothing I said or tried made her feel better. I told her she didn’t need to come to the events if it made her feel that way and that if she came I genuinely believe she would be the prettiest woman there ( which I believe by the way) but she shared with me that she really didn’t like her body which is why she always wear baggy clothes and the fact that I work out a lot and still manage to stay somehow fit despite my hormonal imbalance also made her feel pressured at staying more in shape because it makes her feel bad when she eats junk food and doesn’t go to the gym.

To make matters worse She was never skinny even when we started dating but far from fat but in under a year of starting our relationship she did put on a big 30-40 pounds of fat on her at some point after the relationship started now she lost 10 pounds and she wants to lose another 20. I can’t deny that she needs to lose some weight to solve her problems like her breasts she wants reduction by surgery but they were normal sized when she was skinnier so there are no need for expensive surgery if she just lose the weight.

She says she wants to lose the weight but she lacks the necessary discipline to do so she has been yo-yo ing for a few months now( I did call her out on that because when we started dating she was saying she wanted to lose a littl e more fat but she put on 40 pounds while saying everyday that she wanted to lose a little more) at some point I pointed out she was getting the opposite result of what she said she wanted to accomplish which is what stopped her from putting on even more weight.

I would feel uncomfortable lying to her to make her feel better because I don’t want to feed the denial and thus also feeding the insecurity by not being sincere we have been dating a little over a year and from what I saw she has a bit of a difficult time facing reality so she goes to 2 extremes either complete denial or negative self talk when reality hits. She knows she does need to lose a little bit of weight to wear the kind of dress she wants to buy because her belly does stick out a lot in those. Not that it bothers me but it’s important to her.

What can I tell her to help make her feel better without lying to her and help her either accept her current situation or accept that if she isn’t looking exactly the way she wants it’s up to her to put in the work but either way I will support her as long as she does not endanger her health ?

TL;DR GF (28f) feels very insecure about her body from trying outfits for Christmas parties and I (29m) don’t know what to tell her anymore.
