awx.awx.controller plugin for AAP

I need to run playbooks from the command line on the AAP controller but using inventory from AAP. Normally I'd use awx.awx.controller to do this but it warns with:

[WARNING]: You are using the awx version of this collection but connecting to Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform

Which makes me think there is a way to do it using AAP directly without the AWX community plugin? If so, I can't seem to find any information on it. I would appreciate any pointers.
