Why don’t safety/corners jump when you press Y/Triangle when the ball is in route to receiver?

This has cost me 3 games in a row and has me heated😡. On the second game the score was 24-21 I was up it was 4th down on my 30 and my opponent had the ball with 4 seconds left in the fourth. He throws basically a streak to his right wr I read it clear as day , I press y and the safety does nothing! He scores td and game is over. How is it a 15 yr old and older football game plays better than this crao. This game has several issues. I even seen times where u freezer out of choosing a play you want to execute on offense or defense.
