Cervicogenic dizziness?
So I had my first ever episode of vertigo on December 10th. Had no idea what was happening so I went to the ER, they said it appeared to be BPPV and did the epley multiple times. That didnt help, but I felt better after a couple hours from the medications and was sent home and referred to vestibular therapy and an ENT. I started vestibular therapy right away and thought it might have helped a little, but overall felt basically the same (dizzy with head movements, unbalanced, lightheaded feeling, etc). Then I saw an ENT last week and had VNG testing done this week. I also started vestibular therapy with the place connected to the ENT office instead since they specialize in vertigo. During the first consultation VT appointment, she said she could see my VNG results were in (but couldnt go over them in detail- need to FU with the ENT doc for that) but she said based on the results and what she observed that day, she thinks I actually have cervicogenic dizziness. It does make sense as I have had chronic neck pain and TMJ issues for years, and used to be a gymnast. Has anyone been down this path? None of the epleys or maneuvers ever helped so that kinda would add up as well. Still waiting to discuss the VNG results with the ENT. The vestibular therapist said the results diagnosed me with BPPV, but that I only had upward nystagmus of 5 degrees during the dix hallpike so she doesnt believe it is truly BPPV.
