Help Transferring Saves

Help! I'm on steam deck. I've been having trouble with the Melon DS DS core playing pokemon SS. It keeps freezing. In order to remedy this I am trying to transfer my saves to another core, I've downloaded Melond DS, Desmue, and Melon standalone.

The other cores are not recognizing the save file from Melon DS DS. They share the same directory, so theoretically it should just read the save file correct? I shouldn't have to move it anywhere? I boot up SS in DsSmue etc. and nothing. Start screen with professor oak asking me if I need help setting up controls.

I'm at a loss. I've tried creating a save file in these cores and then overwriting with my save, creating a new folder directory for each core and then moving my save to the new folder. Nothing works. Help please!!

Cheers and thank you in advance.
