Urgently Need Help: Received Police Notice for Layer 6

Not A Lawyer

Hi everyone,

I’m in a really difficult situation and desperately need your help. I recently received a police notice regarding a P2P scam, which is being referred to as a "Layer 6." I don’t even know what that means or how such scams work.

Here’s what happened:

  • I purchased some USDT via P2P on Binance.
  • I used the USDT to buy some coins.
  • To keep my assets safe, I transferred those coins to a hard wallet, as I was worried Binance might face issues like WazirX.
  • Later, I deleted my Binance account for personal reasons, thinking I was done with it.

Now, I’ve been served with a notice from a Maharashtra police station, which is over 2,000 km away from where I live. They’ve also placed a lien of around ₹5k on me. I have no idea how I got implicated in this, and I’m feeling completely lost.

Has anyone faced a similar situation or knows how I should handle this? Should I consult a lawyer, try to contact the police station, or take some other action?

Any advice or guidance would mean the world to me right now. Please help!

Thank you in advance!
