Okay to us WD-40 to remove sparkplugs?

I am about as amateur a mechanic as amateur a mechanic can be. I am a going to be attempting to change the sparkplugs of my 2001 F150, with a V8 Triton. Based on my research, it sounds like the plugs tend to break when one attempts to remove them. How can I give myself the best shot at avoiding this? Is it as simple as letting WD40 sit on the plugs over night? Thanks!
