What's the difference between muggles and squibs?

Question

From what I understand, muggles are people without wizarding genes, while squibs are people with wizarding genes but no magical ability. But then there are muggle-born wizards? Is that just incorrect use of the term and they're actually squib-born or is there something else I'm misunderstanding?
