Adjusting the temperature of the freezer?

I was in my friend's place and we needed to chill something, I put it in the freezer and, the freezer was like a reverse microwave, I set the temperature and put it for like a minute and then my friend stepped in because clearly, I had no idea how these worked and he put in a lower temp and more time.

I woke up a little later, I think my subconscious was trying to show me that maybe my freezer has a temperature slider because my mother always complains that the fridge is too hot and the freezer is too cold and frozen over and we have to use knives and hammers to put anything in it.
