DIY Pi Computer Wall: A Work in Progress

Wanted to share a fun and practical project for anyone looking to free up desk space and organize their Pi computers (or other small devices). You can build a custom wall-mounted storage solution using those cubby hole cage storage systems and some wooden spacers.

Here’s how I did it:

  1. Cubby Hole Cages: Grab one of those modular cage storage systems—you’ve probably seen them around. They’re super versatile and easy to configure.
  2. Wooden Spacers: I used leftover tumbling tower blocks from my wife’s crafting stash (you can find these at dollar stores). These make great spacers between the cages.
  3. Assembly: Glue the wooden blocks together to create spacers, then zip-tie everything together into a sturdy wall configuration.
  4. Mounting: Once the wall was ready, I started mounting whatever I could onto it—mainly my Pi computers—for a clean, organized look.

It’s still a work in progress, but I’m already loving how much desk space it’s freed up! Plus, it’s satisfying to repurpose materials and make something unique.

Let me know if you have any tips or ideas to take this to the next level. Happy building!
