asking BCBA for letter of recommendation from BT

i will be applying to grad schools (MEd/sped teacher prep program) this fall and am thinking of asking my BCBA for a rec letter. i have been on this clients team for over 3 years (now also sibling of client) though i have only known this BCBA for 1 year as they are fairly new to the team. i text/email this BCBA here and there for work related matters and have an overlap with them about once a month. does this constitute asking for a rec letter?
